Emile Aubry

Emile Aubry (1880-1964) was an Algerian-born French Art Deco painter. He won the Prix de Rome in 1907 and the Salon prize in 1920. His work exemplifies how an artist could break free of Academic norms and express the human figure in not simply a portraitive, but a decorative manner. The two-dimensional figure is entirely Art Deco.
