Hohe Warte

Hohe Warte Villenkolonie by Josef Hoffmann

The first four houses at the Hohe Warte in the suburbia of Vienna where orderd by Kolo Moser, Carl Moll, Hugo Henneberg and Friedrich Spitzer, at that time close friends of Hoffmann from the activities at the Viennese Secession.

This gave him the chance to design houses that suited both his and the builders' ideal. This was to reach an unity of both, the outside and inside, or as in Hoffmann's own words, "to build a house who's exterior is one with the interior".

The mansions in their appearance are obviously in relation to each other and not to see as single villas. Rather a kind of composition respectively "Gesamtkunstwerk".
